Lighting Fast Gaming / Home Office Desktop PC on a Budget, codenamed “Beretta”

This Haswell machine is used as a business workstation in a home office for someone who wants to click Word or Quickbooks and have it come up immediately. After work it is able to play even the latest games such as Grand Theft Auto V.

CPU intel core i7-4770K
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo
Mobo Asus Z87-Pro
Ram Corsair Dominator Elite 8GBx2 DDR3
PSU EVGA 1000G2
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB
DVD+R LG whatever
Storage: 2TB Seagate Barracuda
Case: Cooler Master Renegade
GPU: AMD RX 470

The Case is a mid-tower Cooler Master Renegade. This black case with red LED accent lighting has a very clean clook and nice cable management grommets. The hard drive cages are modular for adding huge graphics cards, which is important. It also was able to accomodate the large CPU cooler.

Motherboard is the Asus Z87 Pro with the 8-thread quad-core i7-4770K CPU. This motherboard allows for overclocking with dynamic voltage control (saves energy when it is not cranked.)

RAM is Corsair Dominator Elite 2x8GB DDR3 for a total of 16 GB memory, enough to have a Virtual Machine or two up while still playing a game and not one hiccup.

SSD was just upgraded from Samsung 840 EVO to the 850 EVO for more space. These are amazing SSDs and a great value for the speed they provide.

Power Supply just upgraded from a Corsair CX750M to a EVGA 1000P2 for more energy efficiency.

GPU was just upgraded to a AMD RX 470 from a MSI nVidia GTX970 from a R9 280X

Now we’re driving quad 25″ ASUS 1440p displays.

Keyboard is the CORSAIR STRAFE with Cherry MX Silent. These are the best keyswitches by far. And it looks cool!!!

Mouse was upgraded to a Cooler Master XORNET II, from a Cooler Master Storm Spawn, it’s a nice comfortable gaming mouse that doesn’t break the bank.

Controllers: Xbox One. Nicer build quality than the Xbox360 although Wireless would be nice, changing batteries would be not nice. We’ve got 4 of these for some Mario Kart 64 action.
